A Tops Screen, also known as an Air Intake Screen, is a filter solution specially designed to protect outdoor installations from coarse debris such as leaves, pollen, insects and dust particles. These screens are placed on the outside of the installation and form a physical barrier against contamination without obstructing the air flow. This makes them an essential addition for maintaining the efficiency and service life of air handling systems, cooling towers and other equipment.
Advantages of Tops Screens
Tops Screens help you reduce costs and also minimise the risk of system failure. The screens offer various advantages, the three most important of which are listed here.
Because less dirt enters the systems, they can continue to perform optimally. The energy saved in this way allows you to recoup your investment.
The Tops Screens ensure a reduction in CO2 emissions. A 50-tonne unit saves over 7,000 kg of CO2. This is equivalent to 290 trees.
Because Tops Screens protect the system, less maintenance is required, resulting in significant annual savings on maintenance costs.
From measurement to installation: how does it work?
Tops Screens provide your systems with the protection they need. To ensure that the screens fit perfectly, it is essential that the correct dimensions are determined.
- Measuring the installation: We can take care of this on site, but you can also easily take the measurements yourself using our handy measurement form.
- Technical design and quotation: Based on the measurements, we will draw up a technical proposal, including a clear quotation. If you agree, we will immediately start producing the custom-made screens.
- Easy installation: Tops Screens are designed to be easy to install yourself. Thanks to the smart mounting system and our clear instructions, you can attach the screens step by step – even while the installation remains in operation.
- Evaluation of the results: After installation, we will review the results together. This allows you to see exactly what benefits investing in Tops Screens has brought to your installation.

Information
Tops Screens are made from high-quality materials. The frame is made from plastic, the fabric has a polyester core with a PVC coating, including a special coating, and the fastening eyelets are made from stainless steel. The screens are also UV resistant. This gives the air intake screens a long service life of +10 years. As mentioned above, the high-quality Tops Screens provide considerable energy savings and significant savings on maintenance. This is partly due to the low resistance of 25 Pa at 3 m/s.
Where are Tops Screens used?
Air Inlet Screens are used in a wide range of outdoor systems, including:
- Air handling systems: Protection against coarse contamination prevents clogging and extends the service life of filters and internal components.
- Cooling towers: Keeps dirt and insects away from the coils and heat exchangers, which is essential for optimal cooling.
- Dry coolers and chillers: Protects sensitive components from environmental contamination and prevents performance loss.
- Other industrial installations: Ideal for systems that are located outdoors and exposed to weather conditions and pollution.
The advantages for each application are summarised in a clear flyer. You can easily view the flyers via the links below.
