What is a Paintstop filter?

A Paintstop filter is an essential component of a spray booth designed to filter paint particles from the air. These filters are primarily used to capture overspray, improving both air quality and the efficiency of the spray booth. Paintstop filters are made of fibreglass with a progressive density, which allows them to effectively trap paint particles while maintaining a constant air flow.

There are two commonly used types of Paintstop filters: Paintstop Green and Paintstop Yellow. Paintstop Green is the most common type and offers an excellent balance between performance and cost. Paintstop Yellow has an even finer structure and a higher filter capacity, making it more suitable for applications with intensive paint loads. Both types are designed to be easy to install and deliver long-lasting performance.

What are the advantages of a Paintstop filter?

A Paintstop filter offers numerous advantages for companies that work with spray booths. The filter ensures a cleaner working environment by effectively capturing paint particles and overspray. This not only protects the health of employees, but also extends the service life of ventilation systems and equipment. Thanks to the high density of the material, Paintstop filters remain efficient for longer, resulting in lower maintenance costs and less frequent filter replacement. In addition, they contribute to a better paint finish by minimising dust and other particles in the booth.

Where is a Paintstop filter used?

Paintstop filters are specifically used in spray booths, devices designed to apply paint and coatings in a controlled environment. These filters are placed in the booth’s extraction system, usually directly behind the spray area, where they capture overspray and paint particles before they enter the ventilation system.

They are essential in sectors such as the automotive industry (for spraying vehicles and parts), furniture production (for varnishing furniture and woodwork), metalworking (for coating metal parts), and shipbuilding (for treating ship parts). Paintstop Green filters are often used in standard spray booths, while Paintstop Yellow filters are more commonly used in industrial booths where intensive spraying takes place and higher air quality requirements apply.
